Important Information About our Wine Club

Dear Amici,

I hope this email finds everyone happy and healthy after a joyful holiday season with loved ones. I rarely send out emails to our wine club members unless there is something noteworthy to report. I have some exciting updates about La Famiglia Raffaldini Wine Club. I am happy to announce that we are introducing a tiered wine club so that you will have the option to select your desired experience. I am grateful for your support and appreciation of our wines.

We will offer three different club levels and they are set forth below:

Classico Tasting Pass:

The Classico Tasting Pass is an annual, individual tasting pass, which entitles a member to one tasting or one glass of wine with each visit to the Villa. There are no restrictions on the number of visits per year.
The annual charge is $180 per person. For sign ups during the year, the annual fee will be prorated on a monthly basis.
A special Classico Club member card will be made for you annually.

Superiore Club:

The Superiore Club wine club will consist of a semi-annual selection of six bottles chosen by me plus any six bottles you choose.

You will receive a Superiore Club exclusive of 10% discount on your purchase of 12 bottles or more, and 15% off when you purchase 24 bottles or more.
Two Classico Tasting Passes are included with your membership.
You will receive Superiore Club-member only pricing on select Raffaldini events.
A special Superiore Club member card will be made for you annually.

Riserva Club:

The Riserva Club, our elite level club, is designed for the top 10% of our wine-buying members based upon wine purchase levels and meeting the annual Superiore Club purchase requirements.
In addition to the benefits of the Classico Tasting Pass and Superiore Club levels, Riserva Club members will have access to events with me as I release older vintages. You will have priority seating at dinners and at the villa (with notice). There will be discounts at the inn and cottages and its restaurant once operational.
A Raffaldini Team member will notify you if you qualify for this level and provide further information about the Riserva Club.
A special Riserva Club member card will be made for you.

All existing wine club members will continue to receive all current wine club benefits until the next release in March 2018.

Raffaldini Vineyards will be closed on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, and Christmas Day, Monday, December 25. We WILL BE OPEN on Tuesday, December 26 from 11am-5pm, and we invite you to bring your friends and family to experience Raffaldini Vineyards.

We will be closed on Monday, January 1 for New Year's Day. All other days we will be open during our regular business hours, Wednesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm; Sunday, 12pm-5pm; Monday, 11am-5pm; and closed on Tuesday.

Make America Clean Again

As a part of our regular commitment to our community, we completed our quarterly North Carolina Department of Transportation Adopt-a-Highway pickup this week. We gathered more than 15 55-gallon trash bags of roadside litter in the 3.5 mile stretch surrounding Raffaldini Vineyards in in Wilkes and Yadkin Counties. Every quarter, our staff works together to pick up litter and other garbage thrown on the roads.

Sunday, October 22 - Take a Hike! With Jay Raffaldini | $50

Join Owner and Winemaker Jay Raffaldini and long time NC resident and outdoorsman Steve Nelson, as they show you the way through the Raffaldini woods and vineyards. Wear sensible walking shoes and prepare yourself for a moderate 90 minute hike followed by a hearty luncheon which of course includes wine! During the hike, Jay will share details of the vineyard and Steve will share his love of the woods. Tickets are $50 per person and include a guided hike, lunch and two glasses of wine.

Saturday, October 28 - Sagra Delle Salsicce | Sausage Grilling Luncheon at the Winery | $40

Enjoy a traditional Italian-style afternoon of food and wine as we grill salsicce (sausages), drink wine at the winery. This event is hosted by Owner and Winemaker Jay Raffaldini and is sure to be a relaxed and enjoyable Saturday afternoon. October is Italian Heritage Month

This month we honor our families and others who made the journey from Italy to the United States in search of a better life. We especially honor and remember our maternal grandparents, Urbano Di Renzo and his wife Amelia De Felice Di Renzo (pictured in the photo on the right), who both came to the United States from Abruzzo as young adults in the 1910s, and our father Jerome L. Raffaldini, (pictured far left in the photo on the left), who was born in Mantova, Italy. Our father at the age of 29 visited New York City in 1951 on a business trip. He liked what he saw in New York, including our mother, Theresa Di Renzo (daughter of Urbano and Amelia; pictured with her arm in his in the photo at left), and decided to stay. Our father instilled in us the desire to work hard and follow our dreams.

Vine to Wine Guests Experience Harvest at Raffaldini Vineyards

Last Friday under picture-perfect skies a group of Raffaldini patrons got the experience of a lifetime harvesting and processing fruit from our vineyards alongside Owner and Winemaker Jay Raffaldini and the rest of the winemaking team. The group harvested Sangiovese and Sagrantino and after lunch headed over to the winery to remove the Passito, or dehydrated fruit, from the Fruttaio (drying room) to begin the fermentation process. Then they refilled the racks with freshly-picked fruit ready to begin the Appassimento process. Click here to watch FOX 8 WGHP's coverage of Vine to Wine.

Winery Update
Production of our first-ever traditional method sparkling wine

Last month we harvested grapes for our inaugural vintage of a traditional sparkling wine called Aguri. We looked at the weather forecast closely to time the harvest for peak acidity and to meet our strict fermentation requirements, since every step of the process requires absolute precision. There is no room for error. Fermentation of the base wines is currently in progress, and we could not be happier with the results. The next phase will include a secondary fermentation in bottle and finish with the disgorgement of yeast to clarify the finished wine.

September is NC Wine Month

On August 29, Raffaldini Vineyards participated along with a select number of wineries from across the state at an industry kickoff event. Governor Roy Cooper and Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler addressed the crowd of industry members and journalists, and Governor Cooper signed the official NC Wine Month proclamation. The state's wine industry brings in more than $2.5 billion to the state's economy and employs over 5000 North Carolinians. Look for select Raffaldini wines at exclusive retailers across the state
