Raffaldini Tops Global Wine Tasting From Renowned Critic James Suckling

Last month, Raffaldini wines were tasted and scored during a prestigious global wine assessment in Hong Kong by legendary wine critic, James Suckling. With decades of expertise working independently and publications like Wine Spectator, James Suckling is one of the world's most influential wine critics and discerning palates, renowned for his meticulous evaluations and keen insights into the world of wine. Among the diverse offerings tasted, Raffaldini stood out, with all reds ranked 90+, the highest in North Carolina, and a testament to our commitment to excellence and passion for producing exceptional wines. Raffaldini Olive Oils and Vinegars Are Back!

The Raffaldini Delicato and Robusto olive oils are now restocked! Our Delicate is a blend of Leccino and Caninese varieties from the Lazio region and feature medium intensity, green fruits and sweet almond aromas. The Robusto is a blend of Moraiolo and Frantoio varieties of Lazio Region and offers intense aromas of herbaceous fruit, fresh herbs and almonds.

They are joined by two new products, White Balsamic vinegar, and Black Balsamic Vinegar. The White Balsamic Vinegar is a careful blend of cooked white trebbiano grape must, and fine white wine vinegar, aged in oak barrels.  The white wine vinegar is delicate and balanced, refreshing yet mature and surprisingly sweet. It is commonly used for cooking white fish or shellfish, especially because the color of the food is not affected. Good also for vinaigrettes and salads and also with breast of chicken.

Balsamic or "black" vinegar, is a strong, full bodied, mature and balanced Balsamic Vinegar of Modena IGP with a high proportion of sweet cooked grape must and a small amount of wine vinegar. Tamia Black is noble with broad shoulders, it has been aged in oak, chestnut and cherry barrels. Thick and dense, pour some onto a spoon and take a sip: it speaks for itself.  A great ‘all-rounder’ for the kitchen, use it with cooked and raw vegetables, risottos, beans, mature cheeses (especially pecorino), fish, beef, lamb and pork. Also great to drizzle on fresh strawberries.

Barbara Raffaldini will be offering free tastings of the 2023 Raffaldini Tamia olive oils and the Tamia vinegars in the Tasting Room on Sunday, February 18, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Stop by and learn all about these new products from Barbara.

La Dolce Vita Release
Saturday, February 24 | 11am - 4pm

We are excited to unveil our newest release of La Dolce Vita. La Dolce Vita, which translates from Italian as “The Sweet Life”,  is our version of the widely popular Italian sweet wine called Moscato and is the only sweet wine we make. What makes La Dolce Vita so lovely is its aromatic profile of flowers supported by acidity and sparkling bubbles that balance the sweetness of the wine while retaining its freshness.  It is best served chilled and is perfect to pair with dry cheeses and fruit or as a standalone when simply relaxing.

Join us at our Villa tasting room, where we will be offering  a complimentary tasting of our La Dolce Vita paired with Italian biscotti cookies. No reservations needed—just drop by and savor the bubbles.

Raffaldini Wines Now Available Across NC

After nearly two decades of having Raffaldini wines available exclusively at the Villa we have found a wholesale distribution firm that targets wine shops and restaurants rather than mass supermarket, etc. We sought to build connections with independent retailers and restaurateurs so we can still tell our story to the sales outlet and build on the connection that we have with all of you. To begin, we agreed to have two value-based wines (Bella Misto and Bianco) as well as higher end (Vermentino Superiore and Montepulciano Riserva) available for sale.

To locate a store near you, simply go to raffaldini.com then hover your mouse over shop on the header. When the drop down menu appears, click "Find Raffaldini Wines" at the bottom of the list. Once on the Raffaldini Store Locator, you can use the drop down to search by type or location or type in your zip code and search a radius for outlets near you. If you don’t see your favorite wine shop listed please email me directly at jay@raffaldini.com and I will work with our wholesale partner to get them in the store near you.
