Beyond The Vines...Into the Community

Introducing Pino Vino X

The Pino Vino Wine Label Competition is coming to a conclusion with this year’s label. Throughout the last ten years, many of you have participated in the Pino Vino wine release by submitting your rescue animal for consideration to be on each year’s label. Raffaldini Vineyards has been honored to host this competition, and we have all grown to appreciate even more the efforts people make to rescue animals. In its first year, Pino Vino featured the Raffaldini family rescue dog, Pinot, who originally hailed from Athens, GA. Over the years, various local rescue organizations have received donations based on the sale of Pino Vino wine. While the Pino Vino X label has been chosen, it will not be the end of Raffaldini Vineyards' participation in animal rescue organizations.

Raffaldini Vineyards Holiday Hours

Raffaldini Vineyards will be closed on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, and Christmas Day, Monday, December 25. We WILL BE OPEN on Tuesday, December 26 from 11am-5pm, and we invite you to bring your friends and family to experience Raffaldini Vineyards.

We will be closed on Monday, January 1 for New Year's Day. All other days we will be open during our regular business hours, Wednesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm; Sunday, 12pm-5pm; Monday, 11am-5pm; and closed on Tuesday.

Make America Clean Again

As a part of our regular commitment to our community, we completed our quarterly North Carolina Department of Transportation Adopt-a-Highway pickup this week. We gathered more than 15 55-gallon trash bags of roadside litter in the 3.5 mile stretch surrounding Raffaldini Vineyards in in Wilkes and Yadkin Counties. Every quarter, our staff works together to pick up litter and other garbage thrown on the roads.

Wear sensible walking shoes and prepare yourself for a moderate 90 minute hike followed by a hearty luncheon which of course includes wine! During the hike, Jay will share details of the vineyard and Steve will share his love of the woods. Tickets are $50 per person and include a guided hike, lunch and two glasses of wine.

Saturday, October 28 - Sagra Delle Salsicce | Sausage Grilling Luncheon at the Winery | $40

October is Italian Heritage Month

This month we honor our families and others who made the journey from Italy to the United States in search of a better life. We especially honor and remember our maternal grandparents, Urbano Di Renzo and his wife Amelia De Felice Di Renzo (pictured in the photo on the right), who both came to the United States from Abruzzo as young adults in the 1910s, and our father Jerome L. Raffaldini, (pictured far left in the photo on the left), who was born in Mantova, Italy. Our father at the age of 29 visited New York City in 1951 on a business trip. He liked what he saw in New York, including our mother, Theresa Di Renzo (daughter of Urbano and Amelia; pictured with her arm in his in the photo at left), and decided to stay. Our father instilled in us the desire to work hard and follow our dreams.

Vine to Wine Guests Experience Harvest at Raffaldini Vineyards

Last Friday under picture-perfect skies a group of Raffaldini patrons got the experience of a lifetime harvesting and processing fruit from our vineyards alongside Owner and Winemaker Jay Raffaldini and the rest of the winemaking team. The group harvested Sangiovese and Sagrantino and after lunch headed over to the winery to remove the Passito, or dehydrated fruit, from the Fruttaio (drying room) to begin the fermentation process. Then they refilled the racks with freshly-picked fruit ready to begin the Appassimento process. Click here to watch FOX 8 WGHP's coverage of Vine to Wine.

Wear sensible walking shoes and prepare yourself for a moderate 90 minute hike followed by a hearty luncheon which of course includes wine! During the hike, Jay will share details of the vineyard and Steve will share his love of the woods. Ticket includes a guided hike, lunch and two glasses of wine.

Sunday, October 28 - Sagra Delle Salsicce | Sausage Grilling Luncheon at the Winery

Enjoy a traditional Italian-style afternoon of food and wine as we grill salsicce (sausages), drink wine at the winery. Winery Update
Production of our first-ever traditional method sparkling wine

Last month we harvested grapes for our inaugural vintage of a traditional sparkling wine called Aguri. We looked at the weather forecast closely to time the harvest for peak acidity and to meet our strict fermentation requirements, since every step of the process requires absolute precision. There is no room for error. Fermentation of the base wines is currently in progress, and we could not be happier with the results. The next phase will include a secondary fermentation in bottle and finish with the disgorgement of yeast to clarify the finished wine.

September is NC Wine Month

On August 29, Raffaldini Vineyards participated along with a select number of wineries from across the state at an industry kickoff event. Governor Roy Cooper and Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler addressed the crowd of industry members and journalists, and Governor Cooper signed the official NC Wine Month proclamation. The state's wine industry brings in more than $2.5 billion to the state's economy and employs over 5000 North Carolinians. Look for select Raffaldini wines at exclusive retailers across the state

Celebrating Italy at Raffaldini Vineyards’ 12th Annual Wine Festival

Ronda, NC—Experience ‘Chianti in the Carolinas’ as Raffaldini Vineyards celebrates Italian wine, heritage, and family at their 12th Annual Festa Italiana on Saturday, September 16th from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Feast on authentic Italian favorites from local food trucks such as pastas, paninis, brick oven pizzas, espresso, gelato, sausages, and more. Crowd favorites, Triple P, of Winston-Salem will excite with jazz improvisations while you shop for handmade goods and local ingredients from one of the many craft vendors. Fun for the entire family includes entertainers, face painting and crafts. You can even learn about your family history or brush up on your Italiano with the Triad Friends of Italy Chapter at the Italian Spoken Here tent.

“Festa Italiana is my favorite time of year,” Owner and Winemaker Jay Raffaldini, said, "a grand celebration Italian-style during the pinnacle of harvest. The experience is a memory that will last a lifetime.”

Pre-sale admission is available online and at the vineyard for $20.00 and will also be available day-of at the festival gate. Tickets include parking, admission, a glass or three-wine flight of your favorite Raffaldini wines, and a souvenir Festa Italiana wine glass. Lawn chairs and blankets are permitted, however outside food, outside alcohol, and pets are not allowed into the festival.
